Up and down the country, many of us will head out to see a fireworks display or a bonfire on the 5th of November. Celebrating with a big group can be fun, but what if you want to keep the festivities closer to home?

If you’re celebrating Bonfire Night in your back garden, here are our tips and tricks for making your evening as comfy and cosy as possible.

Get comfy

First things first, you’ll want to set up your viewing area. Even if you’re not setting off any fireworks yourself, you can spend the evening watching the stars and picking out other people’s displays.

For a clear view of the sky, grab a large picnic blanket and some comfy pillows and set up your viewing area. You could even get creative with some DIY decorations; think fairy lights, lanterns, and any sentimental touches to make it feel like home.

You could even create a full camp! Set up a tent big enough for everyone and gather your sleeping bags ready for a fun-filled night – check out our blog on how to get the perfect family tent set up for some advice.

Here’s a top tip: a pop-up tent will make it quick and easy to set up your camp, meaning the kids won’t have time to get bored!

If you are having your own bonfire or fireworks, be sure to set up your seating a safe distance away, and consider the wind direction to keep your hideout smoke-free.

Sort your snacks

While you’re outside enjoying the show, you’re probably going to want something to eat! For quick snacks and drinks, grab a coolbox and fill it with your favourite refreshments to keep you stocked up all night.

Need some snack inspiration? If you’ve got a fire going, you could try making your own s’mores – it’s a fun way to get the kids involved too. If you’ve got a lot of company, a hot drink station is sure to be a winner. Fill some flasks with hot chocolate, tea, and coffee, and leave some marshmallows and cream ready for garnishing!

If you’re going for a full alfresco evening meal, then you can cook outside too! A Portable Gas Stove is ideal for camping and outdoor cooking, with an automatic ignition system so you don’t need to worry about matches. Plus, it’s easy to bring with you thanks to the portable carry case. Just don’t forget the gas cartridges!

Wrap up warm

Even with your blankets and sleeping bags, there’s sure to be a chill in the air. So, make sure you’re all kitted out with some warm clothes.

Thermals are your best friend, so don’t be afraid to throw on the layers (and remember you can always head back inside for more!). Gloves are always a good idea if you’re going to be handling sparklers, but they’ll keep your fingers warm too.
