If you know anything about cars then you’ll know that ceramic coating or nano-coating as it’s sometimes known as, is becoming all the rage with car enthusiasts.

And if this is something you’ve never heard of, we can tell you everything you need to know about this new technology and why your average car wax is, well, a little average.

A ceramic coating provides a second layer to your car that’s invisible to the eye. The coating is made of a liquid polymer that bonds with the paint of your car, filling in any imperfections and smoothing out the surface. The result is a beautiful, deep, glossy shine as well as the obvious protection that a layer that’s resistant to extreme heat offers.

Having a ceramic coating applied to your car professionally can be expensive and Halfords have got a great range of ceramic car cleaning products that allow you to benefit from this fantastic new technology at a fraction of the price.

Here are some of the reasons why using ceramic cleaning products is such a good idea!

Repels dirt

Because the nanotechnology does such a good job of filling in all the tiny imperfections on the paintwork, it acts as a brilliant repellent. Liquid just slides off the exterior of your car. Dirt, mud, rain, you name it, doesn’t stand a chance on the shiny, ultra-smooth surface created by the ceramic coating.

Try Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wash & Wax which helps lift dirt from the paintwork and suspend it in the lather, making for a washing process that minimises scratching. It has an energising tropical scent too!

Easier to clean

As ceramic cleaning creates a water repellent surface, it makes your car all the easier to clean. No having to scrub at difficult to remove patches of mud or dirt. If you’ve been treating your car with ceramic cleaning products regularly, less dirt has been allowed to accumulate and the little that is there will easily slide off with barely any elbow grease.

Use the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic 3-in-1 Detailer regularly between washes to maintain a slick surface and prevent dirt deposits building up.

Protects against UV rays

Any car’s paintwork is at risk of fading and cracking if it’s left in the sun for too long. But with the heat resistance that ceramic coating offers, your car’s paintwork is well protected and will retain its new car glow regardless of any heat waves. Wishful thinking?

Lasting effects

Your average wax lasts a few weeks if you’re lucky whereas ceramic based products will give you protection for months. You’re getting much more value for money in the long term as it’s such a durable product.

Make the most of the longevity of ceramic application by using the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax Coating. A simple spray on and wipe off of this easy-to-use ceramic wax protects your paintwork for a minimum of six months!

Shield against scratches

Just because a ceramic coating layer is transparent doesn’t mean it’s not tough. Unlike wax which has a soft consistency, ceramic products, as the name suggests, help create a robust shell around your vehicle. The hardened surface that now sits over your car’s paintwork acts as a worthy barrier for any light scratches and swirl marks. More serious scratches are still possible but ceramic products help reduce the likelihood of damage that would be incurred by untreated cars more easily.

If you’re needing to correct and protect Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax is an all-in-one solution if you’re short on time. Precision polishing agents clean and remove paint imperfections while superhydrophobic polymers help protect and maintain depth of colour and shine.

A dazzling finish

There’s no fading or dulling with a ceramic finish. Quite the opposite. Ceramic products give your car a stunning, high-gloss appearance resistant to anything that the elements throw at it.

Keep that shine up with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wet Wax which is a 1-step system. All the gloss with all the protection. It even accelerates the drying process and prevents water spots during use.

  1. But are the solvents/ carriers for the ‘ceramic polish’ suitable for glass/ carbon fibre?
Often times the solvents/ carriers have a deleterious effect on the resins holding the glass/ carbon/ aramid structures together, effectively weakening their structural integrity
