Whether you’re looking for the perfect Christmas present or just need a replacement kids bike for your little one to go exploring on, choosing the right one isn’t easy.

From different makes to an array of colours and designs, the whole process can be rather overwhelming.

That’s why we’ve put together a few simple steps for you to follow to make sure that your child is beaming like a Cheshire Cat when you hand it to them.

Step 1: Find the right style and size

There are loads of children’s bikes in colourful designs to choose from, but which size and features should you look for?

Well, a good place to start is with our guide to kids’ bikes and guide to finding the right size bike for your kids. Read these and you’ll be on track to pick the right one.

Step 2: Make it personal

Once you’ve found the right bike, it’s time to make it really special. All of our Apollo and Carrera kids’ and junior bikes can be personalised by adding your child’s name as a fun sticker which matches the bike’s design.

Just follow the instructions in the checkout online, or ask at your local store if you’re interested.

On each bike’s product page you’ll be able to see an example of how the names look.

Step 3: Don’t forget to accessorise

Got the bike sorted? Great! Now it’s time to start thinking about accessories. Helmets, gloves and other accessories are really important for protection. Choose cool/cute matching designs and they’re much more likely to wear them.

Accessories can make fantastic gifts from aunts, uncles or grandparents who aren’t sure what to buy. Loads of our character bikes come with a range of matching accessories to help your kids get fully kitted out and ready to ride all year round.

Step 4: Keep it a surprise!

If you’re planning on buying a kids bike for a present, keeping it hidden is rather challenging.

Luckily, we can help you out with this one, too!

Simply ask your local Halfords to store the perfect bike for your little one and let them know when you wish to collect it.

A member of our team will then make it up ready for you when you arrive so you don’t have any impatient little ones breathing down your neck at home.
