The Halfords Racing with Cataclean drivers showed their championship-winning potential with an electrifying weekend of racing that saw Team Dynamics finish with one of their highest points tallies ever.

Qualifying

For the second race weekend in a row, the team put in an impressive showing in qualifying with Gordon claiming second on the starting grid and Dan fourth. It left both drivers well-positioned for success in race 1.

Race 1

Race 1 was marked by a huge crash six laps from the end, which caused a red flag. In the following six lap sprint, Dan took the lead into the first corner and never looked back. He and Gordon worked together to keep their lead from Adam Morgan in third, who was on a different tyre strategy. Their efforts paid off handsomely with a 1-2 finish for Team Dynamics – and Dan’s first ever BTCC win.

Race 2

Early contact with Rory Butcher in race 2 saw both drivers pushed down the order, but they soon started to fight back. Even with ballast from their race 1 success weighing them down, they managed an impressive sixth place for Gordon and an amazing second place for Dan.

Race 3

The reverse grid led to Gordon starting in fourth and Dan in eighth for race 3. Both drivers took advantage of opportunities throughout the race and worked their way up to a second podium for Gordon in third and a strong sixth place finish for Dan.

Reactions from the drivers

Dan Rowbottom: “Wow what a weekend! That is my first win and best points score ever in the BTCC and sees me catapult to the sharp end of the Championship! It’s been hard fought getting here and I must thank Team Dynamics and Cataclean for their faith in me. My confidence continues to grow, and I think that showed in race 2 coping with the pressure whilst running with full ballast. I’m chuffed to bits not only for me, but for my family, the boys and girls in the team, and my sponsors. I’m itching to get out their racing again in two weeks’ time at Knockhill.”

Gordon Shedden: “That first win of the season still alludes me, but congratulations to Dan on his first win – I got mine at Oulton Park many moons ago and I know how special that feels. A good solid weekend of points for me, and a couple of trips to the podium, gets me right back in the Championship fight and I’ll be giving it my all when we go to my home circuit of Knockhill next time out.”
