Our flagship free check is the Free 5-Point Car Check. As the name suggests, this check covers five key areas of your car and is available at any of our Halfords retail stores or Halfords garages across the UK.
One of our experienced technicians will check your headlights and brake lights, the condition of your wiper blades, your battery’s health, the condition of your windscreen and your MOT due date. If their checks reveal that any further work is required, they’ll be able to advise you about the next steps.

Free Air Con Check

One for the summer, our Free Air Con Check will help you to avoid any unexpected air con fails in the hot weather. Our technician will check the pressure, check the gas quantity, make sure there are no leaks in the system and check your refrigerant levels to see if they need to be topped up.
If the free check reveals that further work is required, such as a refrigerant top-up, air con regas, air con recharge, or repairs, the technician will be able to advise you on next steps. This is likely to include booking in for a full Air Con Diagnostic at one of our Halfords garages.
Free Battery Health Check
Available at: Halfords retail stores, Halfords garages and Halfords Mobile Experts
The Free Battery Health Check is a great choice if you suspect there might be something wrong with your battery or you’re just looking for some peace of mind. It’s also one of our most accessible free services as it’s available not only at all Halfords retail stores and Halfords garages but also via Halfords Mobile Experts (where we come to you at home or at work).
The service involves our technicians checking your battery’s key health indicators, such as its charging and cranking capabilities. In the event that you need a car battery replacement, they’ll advise you of the associated costs upfront – with no obligation to buy.
Free Brake Check

To get a qualified opinion on the condition of your brakes, book a Free Brake Check. One of our technicians will check all aspects of your braking system to identify any issues and provide a no-obligation quote for any work that’s required.

Free Repairs Check

We’d recommend our Free Repairs Check if you’ve got a worrying noise in your car or a problem that you’re struggling to identify. Our team will inspect your car for any mechanical faults, carry out a road test and then recommend any necessary repairs.
Please note that if there’s a fault with your engine or the engine management or other warning lights show on your dashboard, then a Diagnostic Check may be required before we can advise on any repairs.
Free Suspension Check

Our Free Suspension Check will help to make your drive as smooth as possible. If you think you may have a problem with your suspension, simply book an appointment and one of our ATA-trained technicians will be happy to help.
They’ll check over your suspension system, make a note of any issues and then provide a no-obligation quote for any repairs that you require.
