After the success of Oulton Park, Team Dynamics faced a more challenging time at Knockhill but still claimed a string of top 10 finishes.

Qualifying

Gordon topped the times in free practice, but was unable to replicate that in qualifying and placed 11th. Meanwhile, Dan struggled to find a setup that suited him and qualified in 19th.

Race 1

Solid drives from both Gordon and Dan in race 1 saw them move up through the field. Gordon entered the top 10 with an 8th place finish, while Dan claimed the final points position with 15th.

Race 2

Race 2 saw mixed fortunes for the Halfords Racing with Cataclean drivers. While Gordon put his knowledge of his home circuit to good use and claimed a strong fifth place, Dan ended up off the track and had to pit to get his radiators cleared. A safety car period helped him to work his way back up through the field from the back of the grid and he eventually finished in 18th place.

Race 3

The team finished the weekend on a high, with the best results for both drivers coming in race 3. Gordon started in fifth and ended in fourth, having pushed Stephen Jelley all the way to the line and almost snagging that elusive podium. Dan continued to charge through the field and had reached 10th place when the chequered flag fell.

Reactions from the drivers

Dan Rowbottom: “Well that just wasn’t my weekend; I couldn’t quite get the car hooked up the way I needed it. Race 1, I gradually made my way through the field, but it is incredibly hard to overtake here, particularly with the entire field being covered by only one second! Race 2, I unfortunately had to pit after an excursion led to me filling the radiator [with] grass and gravel and that then put me completely on the back foot for race three. But the car came alive in race 3 and I managed to scythe my way through to a top ten finish, so we finished on a high with me winning the Jack Sears Trophy again.”

Gordon Shedden: “Well, that was a tough weekend! I couldn’t quite get to the sharp end in qualifying, but I was only two tenths off pole and that put me 11th! So it shows you how close it is around here. Then it was a case of grinding out the results, but I’m happy to come away with an 8th, a 5th and a 4th as that brings me right back in contention in the championship. We usually go well at Thruxton so I’ll be hoping I can get a good points haul there as well!”
